Position Overview: This position coordinates and collaborates with key internal stakeholders and departments to support the execution of the Medicare program lifecycle. Key areas of focus include project management, organizing and supporting cross-functional teams, and utilization of LEAN management principles to achieve desired product and business outcomes.


Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in facilitating the Medicare program lifecycle process to achieve product and line of business goals, and effectively promote senior products and services. Includes facilitation of Medicare program work groups, meeting content documentation, and other support as needed.
  2. Organize and support cross functional activities and work closely with internal teams to ensure execution of timelines in all phases of the Medicare program lifecycle. Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support and engage the diversity of each group.
  3. Maintain project and process documentation including maintaining the department SharePoint sites and other documentation as necessary.
  4. Support Medicare Program Manager in all phases of the lifecycle and special projects as needed.
  5. Develop and maintain deep subject matter expertise related to Medicare Advantage service area expansions, notice of intent to apply, bid and implementation planning.
  6. Work closely with Compliance, Sales, Medicare Product Development, Government Regulatory Communications, Customer Service, Provider Network, Actuary, Operations and other teams. Serve and participate in the Medicare Program Advisory and other committees for improvement of department and PacificSource operations.
  7. Utilize LEAN management principles to streamline processes, and facilitate continuous improvement. Recommend process enhancements and other improvements to execute the Medicare program work plan.
  8. Collaborate with other project managers and program coordinators to provide support for all phases of the program lifecycle.
  9. Responsible for project planning, timeline development and scheduling project goals, milestones, and deliverables. Reports progress as well as risks to the Medicare Program Manager and management stakeholders.
  10. Engage Medicare Program Manager and collaborate with other departments on non-compliance related issues and/or when obstacles arise.
  11. Develop thorough knowledge of Federal and State regulations, health insurance markets, project management principles, field concepts and practices, and industry trends. Collaborate with the Medicare Program Manager to ensure lifecycle process activities are in compliance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and all state and federal regulations. Attend sales seminars, workshops and reads relevant publications.
  12. Follow standards, and written policies and procedures.

Supporting Responsibilities:

  1. Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations.
  2. Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned.


Work Experience: Minimum two years of work experience within Medicare programs required. Managed care experience preferred. Project management experience is preferred.


Education, Certificates, Licenses: Bachelor degree in Business, Marketing or Healthcare Administration, or equivalent experience is preferred. Project management certification is preferred.


Knowledge: Requires strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to define and prioritize problems and manage workload without direct supervision and the ability to work as part of a team with strong relationship building skills is essential. Requires extensive understanding of goals, processes, procedures, and dynamics of managed health care programs, particularly Medicare insurance products within the health insurance industry, at both the national and State level. Requires strong math skills, including percentages, ratios, statistics, graphing, and spreadsheet skills. Proficiency in Windows Operating System Environment, and Microsoft Office Applications.

Environment: Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required approximately 5% of the time.


Physical Requirements: Stoop and bend. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while performing core job functions.  Repetitive motions to include typing, sorting and filing. Light lifting and carrying of files and business materials. Ability to read and comprehend both written and spoken English. Communicate clearly and effectively.
