  • Overview

    This is a 10 week/400 hour internship

     

    Work on targeted development projects as part of a team working to build, test, and deploy data solutions.  The particular work involved in this assignment includes refactoring of TSQL stored procedures into C# equivalent classes which rely upon a shared data access layer. Work will be performed in close collaboration with existing developer staff.  The desired output is production-ready code.  The team works using a basic Agile development approach built around two week sprints and thrice weekly standups.

    Responsibilities

    1. Analyze and understand existing TSQL stored procedures.
    2. Refactor stored procedures into C# and unit test them.
    3. Consistently document code output.
    4. Follow defined approaches for code management, structure, and quality assurance.
    5. Make recommendations for improving the code refactoring process, the coding environment, QA procedures, and the code base itself.

     

    Supporting Responsibilities:

     

    1. Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations.
    2. Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.
    3. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Work Experience: Educational experience in the field of Computer Science or related degree required.

     

    Education, Certificates, Licenses: Actively pursuing a BS, BA, AS or AA in Computer Science or related work.

     

    Knowledge: Strong familiarity with Microsoft TSQL, Team Foundation Server, and C# as well as awareness of team coding techniques and practices. Demonstrated experience working in a production development environment. Formal training in team coding techniques. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL, TFS, and C#.

    Environment: Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required approximately 5% of the time.

     

    Physical Requirements: Stoop and bend. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while performing core job functions.  Repetitive motions to include typing, sorting and filing. Light lifting and carrying of files and business materials. Ability to read and comprehend both written and spoken English. Communicate clearly and effectively.
