  • Overview

    Primary responsibilities will be focused on information security operations, incident detection and response, and the technical vulnerability management program.  Maintain and operate key associated and assigned security technologies. Through experience and knowledge challenge and improve existing processes and procedures leading the organization’s security operations activities.  Responsibilities also include security incident response, security control assessments, security awareness, and technical vulnerability management activities.  

    Responsibilities

    1. Ensure security operations adequately meet the business needs and evolving threat environment.
    2. Lead efforts to identify, assess, and respond to security threats, events, and incidents appropriately.
    3. Maintain and enhance documentation of the Information Security Program.
    4. Audit security controls and validate efficacy of existing controls.
    5. Perform security risk assessments, architecture reviews, and recommend security controls and/or corrective actions for mitigating risk.
    6. Remain up to date with current attack methods and characteristics in order to identify threats and advise on prevention, mitigation and remediation.
    7. Assist in designing, implementing and maintaining technical security programs including threat and vulnerability management, security event monitoring and response programs.
    8. Contribute to the continuous improvement the security culture and posture of PacificSource.
    9. Actively collaborate with other departments acting in a consultative capacity promoting a strong security culture.
    10. Remain current on industry best practices, the threat environment, and understanding how emerging threats may potentially impact the organization.

    Supporting Responsibilities:

    1. Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations.
    2. Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.
    3. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Work Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience in information technology or information security roles with direct responsibilities in security operations is required.   Experience with insider threat programs, incident response, HIPAA, NIST, HITRUST, or PCI DSS are a plus.  Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, technical vulnerability scanning tools, endpoint protection controls, and secure system configuration preferred.

     

    Education, Certificates, Licenses:  A high school diploma or equivalent is required.  Bachelor’s degree in computer science preferred.  Relevant IT security certifications or accreditations (e.g.  CISSP, CISA, CISM, GIAC, C|EH, etc.,) are strongly preferred.

     

    Knowledge:  Security operations, insider threat programs, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) technologies, information security knowledge to include best practices, Advanced Persistent Threats (ATP) and the current threat landscape.  Strong system administration on Windows, UNIX or Linux is preferred. Working knowledge of application and implementation of HIPAA and PCI DSS controls are a plus. Proficient in network architecture and technologies.

    Environment: Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Position may require travel, which is not expected to exceed 5% of the time.

     

    Physical Requirements: Stoop and bend. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while performing core job functions.  Repetitive motions to include typing, sorting and filing. Light lifting and carrying of files and business materials. Ability to read and comprehend both written and spoken English. Communicate clearly and effectively.
